I Can Sit Up!

I know I promised to talk more about my aunts and uncles today, but I needed to update everyone on a big event in my life! I am quickly becoming an expert at sitting up. Okay, okay I need a little help from mommy, but all she does is let me hold her thumbs for support and then I pull myself up! Watch the video mommy took to see more! (Note: Mommy told me to tell everyone the video looks better if you tilt your computer sideways...)

Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother's House We Go!

Go Blue!
Today marks the 12th day that I have been in Michigan spending some time with my grandparents and all of my aunts and uncles! It has been a crazy time and I have met so many people. I don't even know how I can begin to keep track of them all. We spent our first week in Ann Arbor with my Grandma and Grandpa Miekstyn. When we got there I got to meet my Uncle Joe. He is so tall that I only come up to his knees when mommy stands me up next to him. I hope that someday I grow to be big and tall like him!

The next day my grandparents got to babysit me while my mommy and daddy went to the Michigan vs. Nebraska football game. My bottle malfunctioned though so I was rrreeeaaallllyyyy happy when mommy got home and could feed me properly. I also got to meet more of my aunts and uncles that day. First I met my Uncle Ben and my Aunt Rachel or is it Rach? I am not really sure because everyone seems to call her both-it is very confusing to little ol' me. It's like how mommy calls me Cal-Bal all the time. If I could talk I would ask her to make up her mind already-am I Caleigh or Cal-Bal? Whatever Aunt Rachel's name is I like her. She makes me laugh with all of the faces she makes at me and sometimes she sings to me in Spanish. This is super helpful because my mommy keeps telling me that my future cousin is going to be able to speak Spanish and I am going to want to talk to him! Uncle Ben is a pretty cool guy. He lets me hold his finger a lot and tells me what a strong grip I have. I'm not sure why but he keeps telling me he's going to teach me how to wrestle when I'm older so I can fight off all the boys. What's wrong with boys? I have lots of friends who are boys. The only real difference seems to be that they all tell me they can actually pee in their mommy's face when she is changing their diaper. I can't do that so I just have to satisfy myself with pooping enough that it gets out of my diaper and makes a big mess. That will never get old!

Me and my Aunt Rachel/Aunt Rach!

Later that same day I met my Aunt Michele and my future Uncle Matt. I do not understand what makes him my future Uncle Matt. My mommy said that they are getting married in July and then he will be my official Uncle Matt-sounds like a bunch of funky grown-up stuff to me, but everyone at the Miekstyn house is pretty excited about it! My Aunt Michele takes care of animals for a living which is super awesome because my sister Lucy is a dog and it is good that there is someone around to take care of her when she is sick. My future Uncle Matt is a teacher and he is very smart. If I hang out enough with him maybe it will rub off.

Well I have to go now because I am getting hungry from all this typing, but I will write more later and tell everyone more about my wonderful aunts and uncles!

Bye!

Ah! Shots!

Today was a rough day in my life! Everything started out fine. I woke up, ate, pooped. It was great. I even managed to explode out of my diaper and mom's reaction to that always makes me laugh! We went for a walk with my sister Lucy and then I helped my mom fold some clothes. Then my mom put me in the car seat and we headed out on the town...that's when things started to go horribly wrong!

We pulled up in front of a building that I vaguely recognized from my younger days, you know when I was just a newborn, turns out it was my pediatrician's office. Normally I don't mind going there. The doctor weighs me (would you believe I'm almost 13 pounds!), checks my heart rate and stuff- the stethoscope can be kind of cold but that's just a minor inconvenience-talks to my mommy for a while and tells me over and over again how cute I am (duh!). It's really not a bad deal. Today though, when all that was over, she got the crazy idea to send some nurse in to do when I can only describe as her dirty work. My mommy took my hands in hers and then next thing I knew I was being stabbed in the leg...not once, not twice, but three times!!!! Needless to say I started screaming! You would too if blood were coming pouring out of your legs...okay maybe I'm being a little melodramatic, I mean maybe it was just pinpricks of blood, but to me it seemed like a lot. Then, oddly enough, the same nurse who'd just finished stabbing me bandaged me up with these cute little circle band-aids. She was all trying to be my friend and I was like, "hello!!! You just stabbed me and now you want to be all nice to me?" I wasn't having any of it, so eventually she just gave up and left the room leaving me alone with my mommy who I must say did little in my defense when the nurse was stabbing me. I mean come on-how is holding my little hands and telling me everything is going to be okay supposed to help? But she redeemed herself a minute later when she offered me food. My mommy made a joke that she was teaching me early to use food for comfort, but I didn't really get it. Anyways, after all of that horror and excitement I felt pretty wiped out so I've been sleeping most of the afternoon. I was so tired I even slept through our play date with all the mommies from our new church. What can I say, it's hard work being little. Now I'm conked out on the couch next to my mommy trying to pretend that today never happened. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have more positive news to report.
